Absentee Ballots Available for the November 5, 2019 Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop ISD #2365 Special Election Absentee Ballots will be available from the County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office beginning September 20, 2019 for those residing in the GFW School District. An absentee ballot is a vote cast by someone who is unable or unwilling to attend the official polling place to which the voter is normally allocated. Any eligible voter may apply for and vote by an absentee ballot during the 46 days before the election. Applications for absentee ballots are available via mail or email from the Sibley County Auditor-Treasurer or the GFW Schools District Office. Ballots are then mailed to the applicant from the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office. If you would like to vote absentee in-person, you may request or return the application in-person to the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office. If an applicant is not registered to vote, they will register as part of the absentee voting process. (M.S. 203B.02; 203B.04, subd.1; 203B.04, subd. 4). The County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office regular business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. – Monday through Friday. In addition, the County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office will be open during the following additional hours for the exclusive purpose of accepting absentee applications and the casting of absentee ballots (M.S. 203B.085): Saturday, November 2, 2019 – 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2019 – 4:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Beginning October 29, 2019, applicants voting in-person will be able to deposit the ballot directly into the ballot box at the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office.
