It has only happened a couple of times this winter and things have gone pretty smoothly for the City of Winthrop employees responsible for snow removal. At its regular meeting January 6, the Winthrop City Council updated its snow removal ordinance to address some of the unwritten policies. “There were some things that weren’t addressed in writing,” said City Administrator Jenny Palmer. She explained that the City had informal policies on mailboxes, fire hydrants and plantings in boulevards. “With the change in a new person in charge of snow removal, we decided to update the policy and put these things in writing.”
