NOTICE OF ELECTION – Sibley County, MN Pursuant to M.S. 207A.11, a Presidential Nomination Primary will be held on March 3, 2020, in the State of Minnesota, County of Sibley. Nomination primary voters must be registered to vote and must request the ballot of the major political party for whose candidate the individual wishes to vote. Polling place election judges must record in the polling place roster the name of the major political party whose ballot the voter requested. The county auditor must include the name of the major political party whose ballot the voter requested with the voting history of the nomination primary election. The major political party ballot selected by a nomination primary voter is private data, except that it will be shared with the chairs of the major political parties in the State of Minnesota. The following precincts have changed to mail balloting and ballots have been sent to registered voters: City of Green Isle, Arlington Township, Cornish Township, Henderson Township, Kelso Township, Sibley Township, Washington Lake Township. For polling place locations, voting hours, and a list of all offices and questions on the ballot, please visit the Secretary of State’s website at www.mnvotes.org or the Sibley County Website at www.co.sibley.mn.us. Independent School District GFW Public Schools January 13th, 2020 Summary of regular school board meeting. Full text is available for public inspection at 323 East 11th Street, Gibbon, MN 55335 The regular board meeting of the GFW School Board was held on January 13, 2020 at the Fairfax Intermediate School Board Chair, Klenk called the meeting to order at 6:32 pm. ALSO present: Superintendent Seifert, Haas, Klenk, Lee, Vos, Kuehn, staff, press, parents, community members, Odegard Absent: None Vos moved with support from Lee to approve the agenda. Motion Carried. ELECTION OF OFFICERS Chair – Kuehn moved with support from Lee to elect Klenk as Board Chair. Vos moved with support from Haas to close nominations for Board Chair. Motion Carried. Vice Chair – Vos moved with support from Klenk to elect Kuehn as Vice Chair. Vos moved with support from Lee to close nominations for Vice Chair. Motion Carried. Clerk – Odegard moved with support from Kuehn to elect Lee as Clerk. Kuehn moved with support from Odegard to close nominations for Clerk. Motion Carried. Treasurer – Lee moved with support from Odegard to elect Vos as Treasurer. Odegard moved with support from Kuehn to close nominations for Treasurer. Motion Carried. Motion Carried. DESIGNATE OFFICIAL DEPOSITORY Odegaed moved with support from Lee to have First National Bank of Fairfax and PMA Financial as primary official depositories and Perennial Bank of Winthrop and Minn West Bank of Gibbon as secondary depositories for 2020. Motion Carried. DESIGNATE THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AUDITOR Vos moved with support from Kuehn to designate Abdo, Eick and Meyer as the district’s auditors for 2020. Motion Carried. DESIGNATE THE SCHOOLS DISTRICT LEGAL COUNCIL Odegard moved with support from Vos to designate Kennedy and Graven as the district’s legal council for 2020. Motion Carried. ESTABLISH BOARD MEMBER MEETING STIPENDS AND REIMBURSEMENTS Vos moved with support from Lee for the school board stipends to be left as is. $35.00 per meeting, $60.00 per meeting during business day, Board Chair-$300.00 annually, Board Clerk-$150.00 annually and Board Treasurer-$300.00 annually. Mileage reimbursement will be at the IRS Rate. Meal Reimbursement: Breakfast-$7.00, Lunch-$10.00, Dinner-$15.00. Motion Carried. CONSENT AGENDA Lee moved with support from Odegard to approve the following consent agenda. Motion Carried. DISCUSSION ITEMS SOD Plan Update 5.5%, roughly 550,000,000 in debt. Need to show significant progress, three ways to show progress; decrease teachers, decrease operating expenses, increase revenue. Special Meeting Date, January 28, 2020 at 6:30 in Gibbon ACTION ITEMS Proposed Spanish Trip in June 2022 Lee moved with support from Vos to approve the Spanish Trip to for June 2022. Motion Carried. 20-21 Calendar Proposal Vos moved with support from Odegard to approve the 20-21 School Calendar with changing to no school for students June 7th, 2020 and making the 7th a staff development day. Motion Carried Closing a School Site Beginning 2020-2021 Klenk moved with support from Kuehn to approve the proposed closing of the Fairfax building beginning the school year of 2020-2021. 3-Yes, 2-No, 1 said nothing Roll Call Vote so public could hear; Haas-yes, Klenk-yes, Odegard-undecided, Vos-no, Lee-no and Kuehn-yes. Motion Carried. Potential Bond Referendum Motion tabled until January 28th special meeting. Request was for cost information on PreK-12 plan with adjustments. Keeping the primary building and building a new 4-12 or 5-12 building in Gibbon. Public Meeting notice to papers January 22nd and 29th Public Meeting Feb. 4th, at 6:30 in the Gibbon Gym Odegard moved with support from Haas adjourned at 8:01p.m.. Motion Carried.
