It all started over 70 years ago. A card club was started in 1950 and Margaret Ann Sallstrom was one of its founders. After seven decades of gathering with her friends for cards, she relinquished her chair at the table in December. Her love for card playing began when she was a child. The game 500 was the big game for her at that time. Her parents belonged to a card club when she was a kid. “We learned a little bit through that,” she said. She married Ray Sallstrom in August of 1949 and organized card playing came soon after. “There were two gals that were excellent players and they were teaching some gals that wanted to learn to play bridge,” she said. “They were taking classes and were still short a couple of members. They asked me if I would like to join. I said, ‘Well yeah, but I’ve never played bridge.’”
