The Winthrop Royalty reflects on an eventful past year. In March of 2019, Shelby Ramirez was crowned Miss Winthrop and Makayla Aylsworth and Cassandra Banda were crowned her princesses. They all agreed the Winthrop Fun Fest Parade was their favorite because of all the community support they received as they rode along. Shelby remembered “it was my favorite because it was our hometown’s celebration and it’s a day that will never be forgettable. We got a really nice float that we got to ride on and on a very, very, hot day but we made the best out of it. It’s also so heart-warming and enjoyable to see the whole town gather and celebrate the town’s events so that’s why it was my favorite parade.” “My favorite community event to help with were the Bingo games during Farm City Fun Fest,” Cassandra recalled. “Being able to help out was extremely exciting. I got to spend time with the community and volunteers who were very kind. Although it’s a simple game, all the players made it seem much more than Bingo. Everyone was having fun, enjoying themselves, and of course being competitive!”
