The City of Gibbon was informed on June 25 that it is eligible for the Coronavirus Relief Fund for Local Governments. On July 6 the City Council passed the certification to receive $58,539 from this funding. All funds must be spent on COVID-19 expenses. City Administrator Dana Lietzau estimated that the City will have about $10,000 in expenses. The City has the option of dispensing the remaining funds to businesses that had COVID-19 expenses. Also Sibley County has reached out to the cities and townships to see if they wanted to pool all the funds together so there would be only one request form that businesses would have to submit. The County received $1.8 million to pass out.
