Winthrop Council finalizes budget and tax levy

There was no comment at the Truth in Taxation public hearing at the Winthrop City Council’s regular meeting on Monday evening. After closing the public hearing, the City Council approved the final budget and tax levy for 2021 by a 3-2 vote. Councilwomen Lynn Drinkall and Julie Trebelhorn along with Councilman Dale Malheim voted in favor while Councilmen Pete Machaiek and Rob Edwards voted against.
City residents will see an increase of 6.59 percent to the tax levy this year as it came in at $789,886 as compared to the 2020 levy of $741,070.
