Theatre Department to perform One-Act Play for the public

GFW Theatre is bringing back an old favorite, “Soapy Smith’s Winter Wish” to the stage. This is an old-fashioned comedy in which Soapy Smith, who is down on his luck in 1906 New York, tries to get arrested to get sent to the island for the winter where he’ll get a warm cell and a good meal for three months. The story is retold by an old timer who recalls the events. No matter how hard he tries, he can’t get arrested. This play, written by Thomas Hischak is adapted from O. Henry’s story “The Cop and the Anthem” produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama. Keeping to the O’ Henry style, Hischak’s story has a plot twist in the end.
