Marion Alsleben

Marion J. Alsleben, age 88, of Hutchinson, formerly Winthrop, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Funeral service were held on Monday, May 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery. Clergy officiating was Pastor Erik Karlson. Organist was Charles Luedtke. Congregational hymns sung were “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” “How Great Thou Art” and “I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry.” Casket bearers were Adam Alsleben, Megan McGill, Alison Alsleben, Abbey Owen, Melissa Kielty, and Shyla Kielty Marion is survived by her: husband of 70 years, Orville Alsleben of Winthrop, MN; children, Randy Alsleben and his wife, Martha, of New London, MN, Rick Alsleben of Hutchinson, MN, Dan Alsleben and his wife, Debra, of New Ulm, MN; grandchildren, Adam Alsleben and his wife, Christy, Megan McGill and her husband, Darren, Alison Alsleben, Abbey Owen and her husband, Brian, Melissa Kielty and her husband, Tom, Michele Alsleben; great-grandchildren, Russell, Carl, Miles, Finn, Jackson, Madelyn, Shyla, Carter, Faith, and Hope; sister, Darlyne Franke and her husband, Wayne, of Fridley, MN; many other relatives and friends. Marion is preceded in death by her parents, Reinhard and Verdie Krueger. Marion Johanna Alsleben was born on July 13, 1932, in Alfsborg Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Reinhard and Verdie (Anderson) Krueger. Marion was baptized as an infant on August 7, 1932, at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on May 20, 1945, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mountville, Gaylord. She grew up on the family farm and received her education in Winthrop and was a graduate with the Winthrop High School class of 1950. On November 17, 1950, Marion was united in marriage to Orville Alsleben at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop. This marriage was blessed with three children, Randy, Rick, and Dan. Marion and Orville resided in Winthrop. They shared 70 years of marriage. Marion worked at Reese’s Fairway, Fingerhut, and MidAm Dairy before finding her true love as a cook working at Lyle’s Café and finally at Winthrop Public Schools. She was a Cub Scout den mother and very active with her church. Marion retired in 1993. She enjoyed cooking, working part-time at Hands, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Marion passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, at the age of 88 years. Blessed be her memory. Arrangements by the Dalin-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Winthrop.
