Disc golf growing in popularity in Winthrop

It’s a sport with its popularity on the rise. Ten years ago, a nine-hole disc golf course was constructed in Winthrop City Park. While play was spotty at first, it has steadily picked up with the past few years seeing the number of players and rounds increase dramatically. Allen and Kyrsten Carlson, along with their son Matt, can be seen on the course almost daily, playing several rounds each time they come out.
