GFW teacher wins/loses grievance, then resigns
by Doug Hanson
A former GFW teacher filed a grievance, which was taken up by the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services. A incident happened on January 21, where speech-language pathologist Renee Schmidt physically removed a child from her office and returned her to a classroom. The complaint stated the 6-year-old child said Schmidt became upset with her and carried her for a long time and that she could not breathe. After an investigation, GFW discharged the teacher and the teacher was charged with maltreatment of a child and fifth degree assault.
