The Gibbon City Council approved its budget for 2022 with the levy for taxes to be certified in December. Overall the taxes will increase 2.9 percent going from $479,103.75 to $493,211.16. Most of the increases in the budget came from salary increases that the Council approved during its annual review of job performance this summer. The police department saw the largest increase, going up $32,838. This was mainly due to adding an additional 10 hours per month to part-time officers and also increasing their salary from $19.50 per hour to $23.00. Otherwise there were no major changes in the budget.
