Council to help with boulevard tree replacement

Due to the construction the past two years on North Carver and North Hennepin streets, many boulevard trees were lost in the process. The Winthrop City Council voted to help out in replacing those trees. The City of Winthrop will reimburse up to $200 per tree that was removed during the recent project area. There will be an approved list provided by a local nursery and the Department of Natural Resources. The trees must be planted at the acceptable setback of 14 feet from the street. The purchases would be good through the end of 2022. The Council voted 5-0 in approval.
