Winthrop attorney retires after over 33 years as county attorney

On Monday, October 11, Dave Schauer retired from his Sibley County Attorney position. Schauer said that he turned 65 years old on the day of his retirement. When the County made the job a full-time position, his wife Lori retired as she was working as a bookkeeper for Schauer’s private practice. His original plan was to serve out the entire term next year. Schauer considered the thought of retiring a bit early. He had served in the position for 33 years and eight months. “This is the right time,” he said.
