Here is my mother Carolyn’s obituary from November, 2020. She cherished her roots on the Lager farm between Winthrop and Gaylord.

Jones, Carolyn Elizabeth (Lager) age 81, of Shoreview, passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2020, after a valiant fight with cancer. Carolyn was born in New Ulm to Allen Lager and Gertrude (Pirmantgen) Lager and grew up on the Lager family farm. She graduated from Winthrop HS, earned a degree in Home Economics from the University of MN, and worked for Pillsbury. She married Robert Baird Jones in 1961. They raised their two daughters in Shoreview, enjoyed friendships with neighbors, and attended the United Church of Christ in New Brighton, where she added her lovely voice to the choir and considered members of the church her larger family. She loved striking up conversations wherever she went, whether in her world travels with Bob or in the grocery store. She lived out the motto on a plaque over her desk: “Be Ye Kind.” Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by daughters Stacey Jones (Thierry Mougin) and Alison Jones, grandchildren Vincent and Lucy Mougin and Rowan Jones, sister Jeanne Lager Ahlgren (Richard Ahlgren), cousins Ronald Anderson and Vianne Engwall, nephew Jason Kennedy, niece Jessica Hagg, grandnephew Maximus Kennedy, grandniece Sienna Kennedy, and family and friends who loved her. A service will be held at the United Christ of Christ in New Brighton when it is safe to gather.
