GFW High School to host Veteran’s Day Program

GFW High School will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Program on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. The public is invited to attend the program and are asked to enter through the south gym doors. The welcome will be given by Student Council President Lexie Rettig with advancement and placement of the colors performed by the Winthrop Honor Guard. Owen Pierson, GFW student representative, will lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. After the National Anthem is played by the GFW High School Band, there will be a moment of silence remembering those who have given their lives in service to the country and the freedoms we all possess. Don Adema will then introduce the featured speaker. This year that honor goes to Ron Trebelhorn, the Winthrop Honor Guard CEO. The Band will then play a musical selection to be followed by “Taps.” The program will conclude with the retirement of the colors.
