Residents should refrain from flushing flushable wipes down the toilet

Despite the labeling on the products, flushable wipes should not be flushed down toilets. They may go down, but they are causing damage to the sanitary sewer lines and the pumps that deliver the waste water to the ponds. The pumps at the lift station are pulled yearly for maintenance and inspection by Minnesota Pump Works and each year, dozens of rags have to be cut away from the pumps.
