GFW competes at State Bowling Tournament
Minnesota High School Bowling Class A Varsity State Tournament was held on Sunday December 5 at Mermaid Lanes in Mounds View. GFW Varsity was one of 24 teams throughout the state to advance to the tournament. The tournament format started with 10 games on 10 different lanes, moving pairs every two games. The 16 teams with the highest total pin fall after 10 games advanced to the bracket for seating. GFW did not have enough pin fall to advance to the bracket round, missing the bracket round by 73 pins. GFW had four bowlers with 75 percent or higher fill percentage. Joe Buettner led GFW during the tournament with 80 percent fills followed by Mitchel Stark with 78 percent fills, both Zach Schwarzrock and Tommy Koskela finished the day at 75 percent fills, Anden Hoffman and Colton Howe both contributed with multiple fills. “I’m very proud of these six young men. The way they represented all of our communities throughout the season should make GFW proud as well!” said Coach Scott Schwarzrock.
