Pastor Reuben Rosnau

Pastor Reuben Rosnau, age 77, of Golden Valley formerly Winthrop and Cook, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Covenant Living of Golden Valley, Minnesota. Funeral service were held on Monday, April 4, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Mercy Commons Covenant Church, 4201 W. 50th St., Edina, Minnesota, with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Clergy officiating was Pastor Gary Gilkinson and Chaplin Paul Anderson. Pianist was Joanne Redman. Congregational hymns sung were “The Old Rugged Cross”, “Blessed Assurance”, and “How Great Thou Art.” Casket bearers were Brian Rosnau, Allen Thill, Tim Mankowski, Jon Pylka, Chuck Peik, Stephen Ruff, Pastor Gary Gilkinson, and Chaplin Paul Anderson. Reuben is survived by his: wife, Shirley Rosnau of Golden Valley, MN; children, Brian Rosnau and his wife, Molly of Eagan, MN, and Kimberly Thill and her husband, Allen of Savage, MN grandchildren, grant and Harrison Rosnau and Isabella Thill; sister, Beverly Nelson and her husband, Ronald of Calgary, Canada, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Reuben was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Hazel Rosnau. Reuben Clifford Rosnau was born on January 28, 1945, in New Ulm, Minnesota. He was the son of Edward and Hazel (Anderson) Rosnau. Reuben was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop. He received his education in Winthrop and was a graduate of the Winthrop High School Class of 1963. Reuben furthered his education as he received a Bachelor of Science degree and then went on to North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, where he received his Masters in Divinity. On June 14, 1969, Reuben was united in marriage to Shirley Miller at Vista Covenant Church in New Richland, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Chicago, Illinois, Tustin, Michigan, Buffalo, New York, Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada and Cook, Minnesota, for 28 years, and in 2011 moved to Winthrop. Minnesota. They were blessed with two children, Brian and Kimberly. Reuben and Shirley shared 52 years of marriage. Reuben attended Mercy Commons Covenant Church in Edina and remained a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop. While living in Winthrop he was a member of the Winthrop Lions Club and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. During his time in Cook, Reuben served on the Cook Ambulance, Cook Fire Department and volunteered as the Chaplin for the St Louis County Sheriffs Dept. He was also on many boards including Habitat for Humanity, Cook’s Housing Redevelopment Authority and the Lake Vermilion Fire Brigade. Reuben enjoyed John Deere tractors, gardening, farming, woodworking and all things coffee. He was a very social man as he enjoyed visiting with others. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his wife whom he loved immensely, children, grandchildren, and visiting with others over coffee and a donut. Reuben became a resident of Covenant Living of Golden Valley in 2019 and passed away there on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the age of 77 years. Blessed be his memory.
