A new financial software system for the City of Winthrop was approved by the Winthrop City Council at its June regular meeting. The civicsystems software license fees come in at about $68,345 with an annual fee of about $9,000. After a downpayment, the City will be able to pay the remainder over the next three years at 0 percent interest and Winthrop was provided a $15,000 discount off the normal price because of the smaller size of the city. The software that the City is currently using is over a decade old and very inefficient. The annual fee for the current software is just shy of $3,000.
