A recent decision to approve a permit for a backyard fence has created a discussion for what the actual requirements are. The Gibbon City Council continued that discussion at its regular July meeting on July 5. The ordinance states that a fence should be five feet from the alley, which seems simple enough, but where is the starting point to measure from? Councilman Roger Tabbert stated that the alley could be wider on end of the block then the other so a starting point is always in question.
