Second Street project discussed with property owners

by Michael Mattison

The City of Winthrop is facing a large utility project that will run the length of Second Street and City Administrator Michael Looft met with property owners last week to discuss the project. The project is still in the feasibility study stage but that is nearing completion. Looft said that in 2018, ISG identified everything south of Highway 19 to be aged or aging infrastructure. Most of the mains, water, sewer and private lines under Second Street were installed in 1916 or 1930. “This will be the main artery in town,” Looft said. “Everything will feed into this.”
