Thunderbirds are Tomahawk Conference Champs

Placing four of the top seven finishers, the GFW Thunderbird girls cross country team earned the Tomahawk Conference title on October 18 inSpringfield. Leading the way was overall champion Mady Steele who ran the course in 19 minutes 35 seconds. placing third was Ashley Vos in a time of 20:47. Finishing in sixth and seventh, respectively, were Kelby Bruns at 22:07 andAbby Willegal in 22:17. Rounding out the championship squad were Taylor Bauer at 24:00 and Izzy Vos at 24.17. Kaden Weir raced for the T-Birds in the boys varsity run and finished in 22:21. Kelly Willegal took first in the junior high girls run in a time of 9:53 while Isaac Vos was fourth in the boys junior high race in a time of 9:52. Two weeks prior, the T-Birds participated in two meets. On October 3, the girls placed second in Madelia. Steele finished in second place at 20:16 with Ashley Vos in four at 21:00 and Abby Willegal 14th in 23:04. Also running for the T-Birds were Bruns at 23:39 and Bauer at 23:59. Weir ran for the boys and finished in 22:55. Kelly Willegal was fifth in the junior high girls with a time of 11:44 and Isaac Vos ran the boys junior high race in 12:28. In BOLD on October 6, GFW took third place as a team with Steele placing fifth in 20:33 and Ashley Vos sixth in 20:43. Abby Willegal finished in a time of 23:24, Bruns 23:38 and Bauer 24:37. Kaden Weir finished the boys run in 24:12 while Kelly Willegal was sixth in the junior high girls meet at 11:50.
