Lafayette water shut off attempt unsucessful, ATV/Golf Carts discussed

by Doug Hanson

Public Works Supervisor Al Fox attempted to shut off the water at the former Catholic Church because of non payment. The problem was when the water was shut off, there was still water available in one sink and two outside facets. This water did not go through any meter. Plus a line from the Catholic Church also supplies water to the house on the property.

Since the church is not being use and the two parcels (church and house) is owned by the same people, it is not a problem right now. However, if the church was sold, there would need to be wording in the purchase agreement stating that the situation would have to be corrected. A letter would be drafted and sent to the property owner regarding this situation.
