T-Bird Community Arts will be performing a Christmas Cantata on Saturday, Dec. 3, at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Fairfax at 7 p.m. and a second performance at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. This is the fourth cantata that has held performances in both Winthrop and Fairfax. There were no cantatas the last two years due to Covid and the lack of singers. “The TCA is thrilled to bring back this opportunity for our singers and event for our audiences,” said Director Lynnae Grack. The contemporary Christmas cantata is a medley of songs sung by a choir with accompaniment that celebrates the birth of Jesus and the joyfulness of the season. This particular cantata arranged by Joseph M. Martin includes choral pieces, scripture based narration between pieces, and some traditional hymns that include congregational singing. Performance time is under an hour. There are 25 singers from Winthrop, Gibbon, Fairfax, Brownton, New Ulm, Franklin and Hector. They have been rehearsing the past seven Sundays. “It has been a pleasure directing this choir of very talented musicians. We hope that you can join us in celebrating this wonderful season of love and hope,” Grack said There is no charge to attend the cantata but free-will donations will be accepted.
