City of Lafayette looks for new logo

by Doug Hanson
For the City of Lafayette Centennial, many residents in the community could remember the days of the trains rolling through Lafayette. So it seem logical to incorporated those memories into the centennial logo.
But 25 years later those memories have faded away and the Quasquicentennial Committee is seeking a more modern look.
A city logo design contest is underway for the new logo. The rules are simple, it must have Lafayette somewhere in the design, preferable without a white background circle, square or random shape. It can be any color and all ages can enter. To enter you need to submit your rough sketches or ideas to the City Clerk’s Office by April 16. The committee will review the entries.
The tentative dates for the 125th celebration are July 25, 26 & 27, 2025.
