Grackle Days is here this weekend

The grackles are back and we are celebrating their return in Winthrop this weekend with the 38th annual Grackle Days celebration.
The festivities kick off on Thursday evening with the Miss Winthrop coronation. It will be held at 7 p.m. at The Warehouse and the first button drawing will take place for $100 Winthrop Scrip Money.
Get up early on Friday and head out to the Berdan Center for breakfast from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
If you need paper shredded, bring up to three boxes for the free shredding service located near Jypsy Sisters 9 a.m.-noon.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., get on down to Peace Lutheran Church for the T-Bird Community Arts spaghetti dinner.
You can get an early start on the vendor/craft show as it will be open 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at The Warehouse.
Hahn’s Dining and Lounge will be hosting BINGO at 6:30 p.m. The second button drawing for $25 will be held.
The evening commences with 70s-80s Disco Night at 8:30 p.m. at Tanker Bay with music provided by Six 13 Entertainment.
The vendor/craft show starts Saturday’s events from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Warehouse. Two button drawings for $25 each will be held.
There will be a GFW student art showcase at the Winthrop Public Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Winthrop Historical Society Museum will be open 10 a.m-1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. They will also be presenting Schoolhouse memories at Faith United Church from 1:30 p.m to 3:30 p.m.
Check out the vintage tractors at the roll in on Second Street and Carver Street beginning at 11 a.m.
The rib contest begins at noon at Tanker Bay. There will be prizes for first, second, third and people’s choice. Mages Family Band will be providing entertainment during that time.
A bean bag tournament will be held at The Warehouse beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Stop in at the Winthrop Fire Barn for the Winthrop Fire Department’s pork chop feed from 4:30 p.m. To 7:30 p.m.
The variety show was scheduled for Saturday evening but has been cancelled.
Second Notion will provide entertainment at Tanker Bay beginning at 9 p.m.
Start off the final day of the weekend with the Winthrop Lions omelette breakfast at St. Francis de Sales beginning at 9 a.m.
There will be Grackle fun and games for kids at The Warehouse from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. while the Country Fried Grubers will be playing at Tanker Bay beginning at 2 p.m.
