Lafayette Council sees improvements from last year’s Blight Tour

The Lafayette City Council conducted its annual tour of the city to check on possible violations for blight. The first response from Mayor Sandie Petersen was she felt the city in general was much improved from last year’s tour.
There will be 25 letters sent out to property owners for changes that need to be made. But over half of the letters related to weeds or trees needing trimming.
There were a handful of vehicles or campers that were parked on the property that did not have current licenses. The more serious issues were a cloth shed needing to be removed, tires hauled away and a barn falling apart.
