Winthrop Police raising money for K9

by Michael Mattison
The Winthrop Police Department continues to think of ways that it can help the community become a safer place for it residents. That latest thing it would like to implement is a K9.
Fundraising efforts have begun to help fund the project and the hope is that next year by this time it will have become a reality.
Police Chief Logan Anderson said he and Officer Bryan Hasbargen started thinking about the possibility in December. Hasbargen brought up the idea and Anderson said that he should run with it.
Anderson felt it was a dream at that point but both began to look into it. “I wanted to figure out how much this is going to cost, how is it going to benefit the community, who can we partner with, how are we going to pay for it without a tax burden,” Anderson said.
