The circus is coming to Winthrop

The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is coming to Winthrop, MN on Tuesday, August 1, at the Winthrop City Park. The event is sponsored by the Winthrop Area Chamber of Commerce.
At 9:30 a.m., the public is invited to watch the Big Top rise. People will get a chance to tour the grounds and get a behind-the-scenes look at the show. You can also learn about life on the road and the care of the animals.
The Midway will open at 4 p.m. There will be pony rides, moon bounce, a giant slide, face painting and a concession stand.
Then it is time for the show. There will to 90-minute performances at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The Circus will be sending out a clown to Winthrop on Friday, July 21. The clown will make several appearances around town: 8:05-8:30 a.m. at The Lodge of Winthrop, 8:35-8:50 at Hahn’s Dining and Lounge, 9-9:30 a.m. at Daisy’s Learning Center, 9:35-9:50 at Whites Daycare, 10-10:50 at Winthrop Public Library and 11-noon at The Country Drive In.
C&M Circus has beenproviding quality, local family entertainment for 37 years. This authentic One-Ring, Big Top Circus has been featured on the A&E Special: Under the Big Top, Nick News: On the Road with Circus Kids and most recently OETA’s Big Top Town.
This year, the circus is very excited to bring you s brand new 2023 performance featuring Big Cats presented by Trey Key, our Aerialist Extraordinaire Simone on the trapeze, 10th generation Loyal Bareback Horse Riders, the Perez Daredevil Duo on the Tight Rope and Wheel of Destiny, Elizabeth Ayala’s incredible foot juggling and hair hang and everyone’s favorite Circus Clown Leo Acton.
Advance tickets are available at a variety of locations including Winthrop City Hall, Corner Pizza, Fill Me Up, MidCountry Bank, Perennial Bank and Winthrop Market. You can also contact members of the Chamber. Tickets are also available the day of the event.
