Jacobson preparing for school year as new GFW principal
by Michael Mattison
On July 1, Erin Jacobson was hired as the new GFW Junior High/Senior High principal. Jacobson is no stranger to GFW School as she has a long history with the district.
She is originally from Huron, SD. In 2000, she and her husband Ryan moved to Winthrop as he was hired at GFW as a social studies teacher. Once she graduated, she got her first job as a first grade teacher at GFW as well. She would then teach third grade. Several years ago, she moved into a teacher/leader position in the district as a K-12 instructional coach. She was trained through SWWC. At the same time she became a literacy coach through MDE.
She was going to go back into the classroom and an opportunity arose for her to take a director of teaching and learning position at Redwood Valley during COVID. “I was not looking to leave GFW but it seemed to be a good fit at the time,” she said. She then took a position with SWWC as its lead instructional coach.
