T-Birds dominate JWP for second victory
by Michael Mattison
With a 40-8 victory over Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton in Winthrop on Friday night, the GFW Thunderbird football team improved to 2-0 on the season.
From the opening kickoff, the T-Birds were in control of the game.
On the first play from scrimmage, Dominic Rose hit Justin Messner for a 10-yard completion. Later Easton Taylor ran for 14 yards and Garret Schmidt 22 to get GFW down to the JWP 13-yard line. Unfortunately, GFW turned the ball over on downs at the 6-yard line.
But two plays later, Taylor intercepted a Daulton Bauer pass and returned it 6 yards for a touchdown. Schmidt ran in the two-point conversion to give GFW an 8-0 lead.
