CALL TO ORDER
The regular board meeting of the GFW Public School Board was held on August 21, 2023 at the Elementary School Gibbon, MN. Chair Merkel called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.
ALSO present: Superintendent Dr. Horton, Student & Community Programs Schiro, Stehr, Tech Werner, Schmidt, Community Members, Press Busch, Health Bruns, Buildings and Safety Weir, possible appointees
Absent: None
AMEND AGENDA
Merkel moved with support from Briese to add an action item to have discussion of interviewees not able to attend. Motion Carried.
APPROVE AGENDA
Stehr moved with support from Briese to approve the agenda as amended. Motion Carried.
CONSENT AGENDA
Briese moved with support from Schmidt to approve the following consent agenda. Motion Carried.
APPROVAL OF RESOLUTIONS AND ACTION ITEM
Addition: Discussion on Absent Interviewees
Merkel moved with support from Stehr to allow interviewees here tonight to interview tonight or wait until the Special Meeting on Monday August 28th, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. to interview along with the two that are absent. Motion Carried.
Revised 2023 School Board Meeting Schedule
Schmidt moved with support from Merkel to change the times of the School Board Meetings to and Work Sessions to 6:00 p.m. Motion Carried.
Resolution to call a Special Election for School Board Members
Schmidt moved with support from Merkel to approve the call for a Special Election for School Board Members.
Yes – Briese, Stehr, Merkel, Schmidt
No – None Motion Carried.
Resolution: Acceptance of Donations,
Briese moved with support from Stehr to approve a $130.00 donation from Gwen Ruff, $25.00 donation from Dave Munsrll, $5.00 donation from Julie Schmidt, $10.00 donation from Charlotte Daniels, $10.00 donation from Laura Dittrich, $10.00 donation from Kellie Sloot, $5.00 from donation from Tina Castillo and $10.00 from Janet Hagen all for the TCA.
Yes – Schmidt, Merkel, Stehr, Briese
No – None Motion Carried.
Interviews of School Board Appointees
All will wait until next week’s Special Meeting.

3. School Board Appointment Interviews and Candidate Selection
Interviews:

Bernie Sauter – Gibbon
Mason Schmidt -Gibbon
Kathi Gruenhagen – Gibbon
George Grosam – Fairfax
Schmidt moved with support from Stehr to appoint George Grosam to fill the Fairfax seat. Motion Carried.
Stehr moved with support from Briese to appoint Kathi Gruenhagen to fill the Gibbon seat. 3/1 Vote Motion Carried.
Superintendent Comments: Thanking all for going through the process. Turtle, Sauter and Schmidt have supported the district in the past, Gruenhagen has not.

Merkel moved with support from Stehr to change our Middle School Specialty Instrumental Fee to $150.00, High School Specialty Instrumental Fee to $175.00 and Percussion to $75.00. Motion Carried.

NOTICE TO
FUEL SUPPLIERS
Sealed bids will be received by the County of Sibley, Minnesota, in the Public Works Office at 111 8th Street PO Box 897, Gaylord, Minnesota 55334-0897 until 1:00 P.M., on October 18, 2023, at which place and time they will be publicly opened by two or more persons who have been designated by the County to open bids. Bids are for the following:
The 2024 calendar year supply of Unleaded Gasoline and Diesel Fuel for Sibley County Public Works. Bids shall be itemized by maintenance shop location and product type on the provided fuel bid forms.
Approximate 2024 calendar year quantities are as follows:
Diesel Fuel. 82,000 Gallons
Unleaded Gasoline
34,600 Gallons
Specifications and bid forms may be obtained at the Office of Sibley County Public Works or online at Sibley County Website, Public Works, Advertisement for Bids.

Award will be based on lowest total estimated cost of all products at all locations (Grand Total All on bid form). The County Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any defects.
Rack price must be taken on (Oct. 11th) 1 week before the closing bid date.
Bids must be accompanied by a certified check or bidder’s bond, made payable to the County Treasurer, in the amount of $500.00.
