GFW cross country earns Conference title

The GFW Thunderbird cross country team is picking up momentum as they were crowned the Tomahawk Conference Champions on October 17 in Sanborn.
The girls crushed the competition, placing five in the top eight spots.
Mady Steele ran to a Conference Championship in a time of 20 minutes 41 seconds. Finishing fourth was Kelly Willegal in 22:43. Ashley Vos crossed the finish line in 22:55, Abby Willegal in 23:12 and Kelby Bruns in 23:13 for sixth, seventh and eighth place, respectively. Taylor Bauer rounded out the team with a time of 25:20.
Steele received Tomahawk Girls Runner of the Year. Steele, Kelly Willegal, Ashley Vos and Abby Willigal received All-Conference honors with Bruns receiving Honorable Mention.
Coach Tara Rettmann was named Tomahawk Conference Girls Coach of the Year,
The T-Birds will now run in the Section meet on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Baylor Park in Norwood.
