Last spring the Lions 5M-2 District was awarded a $10,000 grant through the Lions Clubs International Foundation District Community and Impact Initiative, supporting Lions service and humanitarian efforts in our communities. The grant dollars were used for a district wide service project, “Buddy Bags”. These bags are used when a child faces an unknown, whether it be an illness or some other type of trauma, causing them panic, become frightened or unsecure. The Lions Clubs of District 5M2 have worked together to create Buddy Bags to aid in addressing this need; providing a bit of comfort for a child. Each bag contains a Lion stuffed animal, a book “Betty Becomes A Lion” and a fleece blanket. These were donated to Gibbon Fire and Rescue as well as the Gibbon Police Department.
