Thunderbirds get to play on the Timberwolves court

by Michael Mattison
It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the GFW Thunderbird boys basketball team when it played Lester Prairie at Target Center, home of the Minnesota Timberwolves, on December 16. While the outcome wasn’t as hoped, a 77-63 loss, the memories will be with the players, coaches and fans that traveled there forever.
“Having the opportunity to play at Target Center was an awesome experience for our guys!” said Coach Ryan Jacobson. “Having the chance to sit on the Timberwolves bench and play on the same floor as the pros was really cool to experience. Many parents, family members, students, and community members made the trip up to watch the game. Even a few former players from GFW’s 2007 State Tournament team showed up to watch.”
