Gibbon Council continues to research development of football field

by Doug Hanson
At the August meeting, the Gibbon City Council asked for some preliminary cost estimates for developing the former Gibbon football field into 30 buildable lots. Engineer Bryan Petzel had presented three concepts. On September 3rd Petzel showed numbers of $65,000 to $72,000 per lot to develop all 30 lots. These prices included full curb and gutter, pavement and some higher contingency costs.
Those costs were too high for the City Council to consider at this time but the question of just doing the 10 northern lots was proposed. These lots could be developed with minimal investment. The Council asked that sanitary sewer and water connections from the new infrastructure be added now for those 10 lots to make the development later easier.
