Werner gives cable commission update to Gibbon City Council
by Doug Hanson
Wanting more information on the Cable Commission, how it operates and where the franchise fees go, the Gibbon City Council invited Wade Werner to last Tuesday’s meeting. Werner is the public access manager and has been with the commission for 25 years.
The Commission uses a PEG approach, which stands for Public, Education and Government. The schools, city councils and non-profit organizations can put information on channels 7 & 8 of RS Fiber and Mediacom free of charge. The Cable Commission charges a franchise fee to the two cable entities, which in turn is donated to city councils, libraries and schools through equipment purchases.
