Ruth A. Lund, age 104, of Gaylord, Minnesota, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota, with interment in Bernadotte Lutheran Cemetery, Bernadotte Township, Nicollett County, Minnesota.
Clergy Officiating: Reverend Paul Kratzke.

Ruth Alta Erna Lund was born on August 2, 1921, at a farm in Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albert and Edith (Pieske) Schmidt. Ruth was baptized as an infant and later confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. She was the last class to be confirmed in German in 1935. She received her education at Gaylord High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1939, the first class to graduate in the new school. After graduation, the family moved to New Ulm, Minnesota. She worked at Woolworth Dime Store, Wear-Well Garment Company and New Ulm Telephone Company until 1944.
Ruth was united in marriage to Bob Lund on August 25, 1944, at Bernadotte Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with two children, John and RaVae. They farmed in New Sweden Township at Bob’s parent’s home farm for 17 years. She helped Bob operate the farm, sales barn, real estate office, and auction and appraisal service doing bookkeeping. In 1961 they moved into Gaylord, Minnesota. Ruth worked as an election judge for two school district elections and also three general elections for the City of Gaylord, Minnesota. She also worked at Fingerhut, the Gaylord Post Office, Sibley County Welfare Office and as a Sibley County Bailiff for 28 years.
Bob and Ruth shared 62 years of marriage before Bob passed away November 12, 2006.
Ruth was a charter member of American Lutheran Church in Gaylord, Minnesota. She was also a charter member of Gaylord Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Nicollet County Friendship Club for 12 years. Ruth taught Sunday School, was in the church choir, Ladies Aid and played the organ.
Ruth enjoyed sewing, quilting, hardanger, crocheting, candle wicking, music, playing cards and painting. She liked going to new places and she cherished time with family and friends.
When she needed assistance with her care, Ruth became a resident of Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids and passed away there on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 104. Blessed be her memory.
Ruth is survived by her Daughter-in-law, Kathy Lund of Sauk Rapids, MN; three Grandchildren, Randy Eustis and special friend, Shelly Swenson, Travis Lund and his wife, Stacy, and Betsey Lund Ross and her husband, Frank; nine Great Grandchildren; 12 Great-Great Grandchildren; Nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Edith Schmidt; husband, Bob Lund; Daughter, RaVae Hofferbert and her husband, Don; Son, John Lund; Sister, Laura Hildebrandt and husband, Otto; Sisters-in-law, Lorraine Pedersen and her husband, Vic, Marilyn Soule and her husband, Fred; Brother, Al “Bud” Schmidt and wife, Helen; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Carl and Myrtle Lund; Granddaughter-in-law, Amy Eustis.
