GFW bond referendum voted down
Voters in the GFW School District voted down the bond referendum by just over 200 votes yesterday.
A total a 1,188 no votes were cast while 982 voters cast yes ballots (45.25 percent).
The proposal was to build a new PreK-12 school in Gibbon with at a cost not to exceed $49.49 million.
Voters in Gibbon voted a responding yes at 399-201 for 66.5 percent approval.
Winthrop came in slightly below half at 46.3 percent with a 326-378 vote.
Fairfax was at 24.4 percent at 169-525.
Absentee ballots returned were split almost down the middle with 88 yes and 84 no.
