Mayor Kelly Pierson declared a local emergency which went into effect Friday evening at 8 p.m. The declaration is good for 72 hours and allowed the Winthrop City Council to meet for its regular meeting Monday evening. The City Council voted to extend the emergency to coincide with Gov. Walz’s emergency declaration and any extension until it is safe to meet in person once again.
