Changes made to Farm City Fun Fest

In year’s past the Winthrop Farm City Fun Fest parade made a loop around Winthrop City Park. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the parade route has been changed. It will begin at the original staging area but will go east on Sixth Street just one block before heading south, crossing Highway 19, and continuing south until it reaches Grant Street. The route then turns east again before continuing north on Main Street to end up downtown. The festivities will only be held on Saturday this year with the parade beginning at its usual time of 2 p.m. The General Federation of Women’s Club will be celebrating 100 years. They will perform a skit at 3:30 p.m. on Second Street commemorating the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The Country Fried Grubers will perform on Second Street between Main and Carver from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be ice cream eating contest held during the band’s breaks.
