I Love To Read

The GFW Elementary School is kicking off “I Love to Read” month with a literacy fundraiser. The fundraiser is called “Literacy is Everywhere” Read-a-Thon. Each student has individual goals set on money to raise and minutes of reading set for each day. Students earn prizes by meeting certain goals. Individual classrooms also have a fundraising goal and will win a popcorn and movie party if they meet their goal. The top two classrooms win a bowling party! 50% of the funds raised goes to Literacy family events, summer activities, supplies, and books. 45% of the funds are going to technology needs and the remaining 5% towards school incentives like assemblies and celebration events. Donations can be made to individual students or classrooms until February 28th, 2022. If you do not know an elementary student, you can donate by going to https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/ community-share-webpage/61d619fd2efbe. The elementary school hopes to raise $12,000 collectively. If they are able to reach that goal Principal Thompson and Mr. Wasmund along with other staff members will get turned into whipped cream pies at a school assembly. The school also has dress-up days and other events planned for the month to bring awareness to reading and literacy. In April GFW elementary will host a Literacy is Everywhere night for families.
