Council decides on new police chief

Mayor Pierson and city councilors are excited to announce the hiring of a new police chief for the city of Winthrop. On Monday, February 7, 2022, during a regular city council meeting, Logan Anderson was selected to be Winthrop’s new police chief. Anderson has worked with the city of Winthrop before, as a parttime officer. The job offer was accepted on Tuesday by Anderson, the new chief will now go through a series of state required background checks. His start date will be determined after the requirements have been completed. Anderson graduated Minnesota University of Mankato in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement. Currently, Anderson works at McLeod County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy sheriff. He has worked for McLeod County since 2019. Anderson has also worked as a police officer in Brownton, Winthrop, and Eagan, all located in Minnesota.
