GFW Survey causes School Board to pause on the referendum vote

by Doug Hanson
“I think the information we got tonight shows us that this (referendum) probably isn’t going to happen in August or November of this year,” stated Chairman Mike Kuehn. He added that this gives the School Board the opportunity to go out to the community and bring back more input to develop a plan that will lead to a positive solution. The School Board heard the results Sue Peterson, an architect from ISG. The Board did not see the surveys. Peterson stated that 50 percent of the citizens stated no to a one school centrally located and 42 percent said yes. The grade 5-12 building project was more negative with 67 percent saying no to a $50 million new buildings plus $3 million for elementary upgrades. Only 18 percent said yes.
