Housing developer faces resistance at Lafayette City Council meeting

The Big Dog’s Treasures went on sale on June 1st and a housing developer attended Monday evenings Lafayette City Countil meeting to ask about switching zoning from commercial to multi-family. There were also about 20 people in the audience, most wanted to question the developer on what his plans were. Paul Bertelson, owner of Renewal Development of Minneapolis, stated he had plans to transform the site into affordable efficient apartments. Big Dog’s Treasurer was formerly the Good Samaritan Center. Bertelson stated that he had hopes to take the 28 rooms and other areas and create approximately 20 units.
