Lafayette Legion banquet recognizes members

Lafayette American Legion Post 300 recognized Paul Schuelke’s 50+ years of service at its banquet Tuesday evening, March 21. A 57-year member of the post, Paul has been adjutant the last 53 years. The post surprised him with a cake, a plaque, and a bottle of Scotch to recognize five-plus decades of service. Schuelke is the post’s longest continuous local member.
The post’s two 95-year-old World War II vets—Carl Martens and Narve Nelson—were also in attendance, along with other members.
Acting MC Kyle Dalquist presented Gordie Woratschka with a 50-year pin and certificate. A 50-year pin will also be awarded to Jim Gieseke, who was not in attendance.
