Gibbon Royalty reflects on 2023 reign

by Maggie Buettner
In January of 2023, Katelyn Beranek and Taylor Schafer were chosen to represent Gibbon as Royalty for the year. They attend over 30 events throughout the year including fundraisers, parades, area royalty coronations, and many other events.
Taylor stated, “My favorite parade was the Father’s Day Parade in Hutchinson because the route was packed and I was able to experience it with my dad.” The dads even wore crowns to feel extra special with their royal daughters. Katelyn replied, “My favorite parade that I was in was the Defeat of Jesse James Days parade in Northfield. It was really cool to see so many people there.” This was also Taylor’s favorite celebration to attend “because they had so many cool and interesting events going on. My favorite event during this celebration was the reenactment of the bank robbery.” Katelyn’s favorite city celebration was Gibbon Days “because it was fun to play kickball with the little kids.”
