Winthrop Princesses reflect on their year as royalty

by Michael Mattison
For Winthrop Princesses Eden Messerli and Ashlynn Hubred, their year representing Winthrop has been a whirlwind.
The dream of running for Miss Winthrop started at an early age for both ladies as both went to the royalty tea party in second grade. “I got to meet the princesses and got really excited about it,” Messerli said. “I started seeing them around the community and knew this was something I wanted to do. I wanted to represent Winthrop and grow my leadership skills, public speaking, communication and be with a really great team like Ashlynn and Trinity (Stearns).”
Hubred added, “My mom was a princess as well and she said it was a really good opportunity for me to help grow all these different skills that you can get from it.”
