Getting a charge

Winthrop has two sets of electrical car charging stations in the downtown parking lots, each with two connections. They were installed in the fall of 2024 during the Second Street project. City Administrator Michael Looft said that it take about 30 minutes to go from 0 percent to an 80 percent charge, about twice as fast as doing it at home and the cost is less as well. The ChargePoint charging stations use the ChargePoint application and charges the credit card you have on file. The stations are made possible through the MMPA and MMUA. Photo by Doug Hanson
